THE HISTORY
A Chattanooga Landmark Since 1891
Spanning the Tennessee River between downtown and the North Shore, the Walnut Street Bridge has connected Chattanooga for more than a century. Originally built for wagons, pedestrians and later vehicles, the bridge was preserved and transformed into a pedestrian landmark in the 1990s. Today, it remains one of Chattanooga's most recognizable pieces of history.
THE WOOD
History You Can Hold
As part of the bridge's latest restoration, its aging wooden decking was removed and replaced. Sparks Design has access to this historic wood and is preserving its weathered grain, bolt holes, markings and character by transforming it into pieces designed to live on beyond the bridge.
